Boxes of Hope, the newest volunteer program at Project Hope, has brought support and sustenance to the hundreds of men, women and children who have made a temporary residence at our shelter. Basically a collection drive of Project Hope’s weekly needs, a Boxes of Hope campaign greatly offsets shelter expenses and allows our staff to focus on the greatest need: finding homes for the homeless.
People of all ages, especially young people, can get involved with this simple, hands-on project while focusing on the needs of others. Schools and groups from all over the tri-county area are filling Boxes of Hope. All that is needed to make this project a success is your enthusiasm!
Planning the Event
Contact the Project Hope Volunteer Coordinator at 440-354-6417 or by e-mail at to begin the process. The coordinator will help you establish a timeline for the collection drive and will make arrangements for you to receive a supply of sturdy boxes to collect and store the donated items.
Communicating
A flyer is ready for you to use when communicating with the school or other organization that will be participating in the Boxes of Hope collection drive. Be sure to work with the appropriate local management from your organization to get permissions and confirmation on dates, etc.
Filling the Boxes
Once the collection dates are set, your group is ready to start filling the boxes with items from the Project Hope Wish List. We will provide you with a large envelope to help keep financial and gift card donations secure. Project Hope will receive the boxes in the manner originally specified during the planning process.
